“He died,” Sabrina said bluntly.

Sebastian first froze for a moment as he did not expect such a reply from her.

He curled his lips and smiled, “First get pregnant, then k**l the man later? Your viciousness truly exceeded my expectations.”

Sabrina did not speak again.

Since any form of explanation would be a wasted effort, it was better to not deny and silently agree with everything to the end.

She looked up. “Have you decided to keep me still to console your mother?”

“Don’t tell me that you want to break the contract?” Sebastian asked instead.

“You have exposed my deceptive scheme, I thought you…”

Sebastian interrupted her with a sneer. “Since the contract has been signed, you must serve my mother obediently until she dies! Your scheme? You would first have to see if your schemes could be tougher than my tactics!”

Sabrina was speechless.

The man turned around and was about to leave, but Sabrina called out to him from behind. “You… Wait a minute.”

Sebastian looked back at her.

“Give me $2,000 USD,” she said.

“I have no obligation to raise the child in your belly,” The man closed the door and left.

Sabrina hugged her knees and sat on the bed alone.

The penniless days were truly difficult to endure. She had no idea how to return the camera to the owner. She hoped that Marcus, who had only spoken to her briefly at the banquet, would call her now and take the liberty to lend her $2,000 USD.

However, she laid quietly in the hospital until mid-afternoon, but her phone did not ring.

Sabrina’s temperature did not increase until around mid-afternoon, and the doctor gave her some more medicine, so Sabrina wanted to be discharged.

Although Sebastian had already paid for her medical expenses, she still could not delay her work. If she were to lose this job again, then she would really have no other way out.

Her phone rang as she was about to leave after packing her things. She could not wait to pick up the call, so she answered without looking at the number. “Hello…”

She was hoping that Marcus would call.

However, it was Grace’s warm voice on the other end. “Sabbie.”

“Uh… Mom. I’m sorry…”

“It’s fine, Sabbie,” Grace said before Sabrina could finish her sentence, “Sebastian had already told me. You were busy and tired from entertaining guests with him yesterday. Also, the dress you wore was thin, so you had a fever and were hospitalized early in the morning. Sabbie, it’s all my fault. I have already forgotten that you were kidnapped a few days ago. Your body was still weak, but I allowed you to be concerned with such matters and made you sick. You rest well and don’t worry about mom. I have Sebastian here taking care of me, so it’s fine.”

“Mom…” Sabrina’s eyes suddenly teared up.

Although this “mom” was fake, Grace was the only beam of light in Sabrina’s life.

“Mom, there’s something…” Sabrina had an extremely apologetic tone. “I… I was too busy last night, and I was not feeling well after the banquet, so I didn’t get to take pictures at the Ford residence for you…”

On the other end, Grace paused for a moment.

“Mom?”

“It’s fine, my child.” Grace’s voice was a little weak. “Your health is more important. There would be a chance for you to take a photo for Mom later on.”

Despite trying her best to conceal it, a hint of disappointment could still be detected in Grace’s tone.

Sabrina understood that Grace was afraid she would never have the chance to see it again.

“Right, Sabbie, promise me, don’t tell Sebastian that I wanted to see the interior of the Ford residence, alright?” Grace pleaded over the phone.

Sabrina was puzzled. “Mom, why?”
