Read When His Eyes Opened By Simple Silence Chapter 574
After two seconds of silence, he could no longer control himself and said, “Avery!”
His voice was filled with unconcealable concern for her.
She gagged a few times before the nausea finally passed.
Elliot regained his composure and muttered in a hoarse voice, “Avery, go lie down on the bed if you don’t feel well.”
Enraged by what he said, she hissed, “I don’t need your pity!”
He did not need to tell her how great Chelsea was.
“I pity our child!” he said sternly as he tightened his grip on the phone.
“Why?” she asked sarcastically. “Is it because I haven’t gotten rid of it?!”
“Avery Tate, do you really have to be so savage?!”
Elliot could not help but wonder whether he really was the villain she made him out to be. He had been overjoyed by the news of her pregnancy and had looked forward to the birth, and when the accident had happened, he had been deeply hurt as well.
“Who was the first one to start this savagery?” said Avery as she sat on her bed. Her eyes had grown red, and her fingers dug into the sheets. “Chelsea is obedient and understanding… Repeat everything you just said!”
Elliot moved his lips, but he could not utter a word.
“Don’t disgust me ever again!” she said sternly before hanging up.
…
Elliot closed his eyes in despair.
He had been too reckless. He was blinded by rage and had forgotten that she was still pregnant with his child.
“How could I say something like that to her?” he thought.
“Elliot, let’s go eat!” Chelsea opened the door to his office. She had come to remind him that it was time to get off work.
He looked over at Chelsea. For the past year, Chelsea had been invisible, and she had never even spoken to him unnecessarily; it wasn’t until recently that she had appeared before him seemingly out of the blue.
“You should go ahead!” he said, “I am heading home directly.”
Chelsea nodded. “You don’t look so well, so don’t stay here for too long.”
With that, she turned and left.
Elliot picked up his phone, located Chad’s number, and called him.
“Chad, are you at Avery’s right now?”
Chad parked his car by the road and said, “No, I got into a fight with them. Everything was fine at dinner, but then Tammy brought up matters between you and Chelsea, and I couldn’t help but come to your defense. I guess I was out of line, but I’ve already left Starry River.”
Elliot massaged the bridge of his nose and said, “Watch your tongue in front of Avery from now on. She’s pregnant.”
“Yeah, I regretted it as soon as I left her mansion. I will apologize to her another day,” Chad said guiltily.
The next morning, Wesley went to visit Avery.
The two could not help but give each other a hug.
“Avery, forget what my mom said to you. She is old and is quite stubborn.” Wesley had been waiting for Avery’s return so he could explain everything to her. “I am doing fine now, how about you? How’s the injury?”
“It has been a while since I have recovered.” Avery led Wesley to the couch. She made him take his seat, and she poured him a glass of warm water. “Wesley, you can’t act so recklessly the next time something like that happens.”
“It won’t happen again. You, on the other hand, need to watch out now that your identity is out in the open,” he reminded her.
“Yeah. Your hand…” She sat down next to him and lifted his hand.
“It’s okay. It does not affect my life.” Wesley showed her his hand and said, “Avery, Elliot has asked me to be Shea’s teacher.”
She looked at him in surprise.
